This saddens me because I've read your words about the important role your pop has played, on and off, in your life. I am sorry that he -- and nasty people on the Internet -- have treated you so poorly. This is no reflection on you. It's an ugly world. But your writing? It's beautiful, sophisticated, wonderful. I wish you the very, very best in all things.

I’m just a stranger in Wisconsin, but I truly adore your writing and honesty and everything you bring forth. Your writing has always made me believe that I wasn’t alone in my thoughts.

Hi Felicia, if it makes you feel any better you're not the only "crazy" one who wants to move to Mexico. I too dream of moving out of US and why not? plus online and working from afar makes it a great possibility. Thousands of Americans have moved and they are still flocks doing so, yes in flocks, we must be all crazy, huh? As a mater of fact not only Americans but Canadians and, Europeans are flocking to Mexico and many deciding to even retire there. Yeah very crazy. No I'm being sarcastic about the crazy part, actually I think it is clever. There's a community of entrepreneurs there as well, let's freaking move! I am. We can always come back if we ever decide to comeback. I know my friends, family and strangers think I'm crazy because many would give their right tit or nut to try the so called "American Dream or American Life," that dream for many doesn't exist here. Or what once the American dream for baby boomer isn't the same American Dream, for the new generation it might not exist. Our new American Dream is travelling and moving to Mexico, we have that choice and that may be our American Dream. The new dream of the new generation. Anyway, I'll move but come back I have a feeling and decide Mexico is too freaking hot and then decide I'd rather live in Alaska because I love the cold weather. Hahaha we will never know unless we try. Try living there for a month or few months, I remember being bitten by the bugs as a child when my parents would take me there so that might be another of my worries some tropical weather's have bugs and the heat is ridiculous that's the only two that I have a feeling will crush my dream of living in Mexico. Okay I rambled enough. Your crazy reader, Mary from San Diego, California.

I'm sorry for what you went through. And I apologize for the dregs of humanity who knows no better, or knows but don't care. You have many people who love your writing. And some of us have been with you for a long time. I wish you the best and success in whatever you tackle next. I'll be there.

I won’t pretend to know or understand how devastating this betrayal is, Felicia. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You’ll be missed. (I’m not a paid subscriber, unfortunately, as I’m closer to the financial edge every day.) Thank you for being so vulnerable and trusting us with your words.

Not fair. I don't have kids but I would be thrilled to have you as an adult daughter any day of the week I personally think your move to Mexico was a smart idea to deal with a tough time Flexibility and resiliancy are all characteristic s of a successful adult. Please don't let the behavior of a less than decent person undermine your brilliance Chin up and know that you have a world of readers who hold in high esteem.

I'll definitely miss you. I'm a horrible black sheep in the familial world, without ever really understanding what the familial problem is, and I've learned for me it's their loss. I hate what he did, and I understand that resignation of which you spoke. Do what you need to do for you. I'll be glad to see you back when you're ready. My heart goes with you...

I am sorry your dad and anonymous others have been mocking you and your honesty. I am sorry that you’re cutting off a deeply important, powerful, and personal form of expression as a result of that unrepentant cruelty, but you must protect yourself. Hugs and strength to you.

I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through, no one deserves that! That kind of betrayal from a loved one is terrible and it saddens me that the consequences is you not writing what you want, you have a very meaningful, honest and strong voice, but of course you need to do what is best for you. Just know that I appreciate your writing and I wish you all the best.

Fair enough. There are times when being vulnerable in writing makes you too vulnerable. I hope you are able to protect your heart and know that for every negative hateful comment, there are ten times as many people sending love your way.
