Some Brief Personal Updates
Of course, Felix is at the core of everything in mi VIDA.
A lot of these life updates don’t require a whole essay, maybe just a missive. So, here we go.
The Antichrist Neighbor is Moving Out: Praise puppies, praise Jesus, praise Charlie Brown. No longer do I have to hear her terrible bass-thumping music at 5am. And although she’s moving out at the end of the week, I feel she’s torturing me (as one last hurrah) by blasting her music all day as a kind of fool, you can’t do nothing about it now. I did think of pummeling her but I can’t go to jail because I have a cat to support. So, for today, I will not choose violence.
The Felix Update: Some of you might have noticed that I’ve republished a piece on Medium when I was adamant about quitting the platform. Well, when it comes to my cat and his vet care I have zero shame. He’s going to need ongoing vet care (for his teeth as I’m sensing pain and it’s killing me, murder in the first) and since my freelance gigs have dried up, I’m going to try to make a few extra dollars on Medium. Though, I doubt I’ll make enough to get him his Fancy Feast, tbh. So, if you’re a member, please like my stories so I can get a couple of nickels going.
Health Update: My doctor has been sounding the alarm of me getting weaned off Ozempic come March, which is giving me massive panic attacks. My A1c is incredible (no longer diabetic!!!), I’m finally not eating the entire kitchen and I worry that the dreaded food noise will return. I’ll keep everyone posted via an essay that will make light of my existential suffering. In better news, I got my health coverage down and I’m finally getting dental insurance so YAY isn’t our health care system a total racket?
Writing Update: For the ten folks who read my last newsletter, it’s been tough out in these streets because all I can do is sell clothes to pay bills and watch video after video of the Epstein files. It’s all-consuming and making me realize the world we live in is so much worse than I could have ever imagined. But I’m hoping to get back in the saddle in the next month and share some new work here—especially for my paid subscribers :)
I hope you’ve been enjoying my weekly newsletters as I put a lot of heart into writing them and I’ve learned it’s better to write when you really, truly have something important to say instead of just adding to the noise.
xo, Felicia
