And on this, I can relate.

"I tell him while the diagnosis of depression made me depressed, this, learning more about my autism, gives me joy because now the world makes sense.

Now, I can finally get acquainted with the real me."

I had the initial testing for adult autism almost two years ago. My former therapist was helping me understand ME. And while those who I told clamored and responded, "This makes so much sense. You should be relieved!" I really wasn't. I got upset because I thought back to years ago, in my childhood, how this diagnosis would have helped my parents with my upbringing. But we weren't doing all of this back in those days.

I am good you're running into the YOU that you are and loving knowing why you are the way you are. I have more tests and a long ways to go, but I'm now willing to go there.

Thank you for sharing this, Felicia. 🙏🏾

Great essay on this topic. I have read several stories about women being diagnosed with autism in their forties in the past couple of weeks. It’s interesting this is getting so much attention and I’m sure it’s a relief to you. Understanding who you are is important.
