I think we’ve talked about it before, but I would be very interested in hearing anything you’re willing to share about Ozempic and how it’s lessened your knee pain. Mine isn’t getting any worse, but it’s not getting any better, either.
Oh no, Kevin! I remember you mentioning this a while back. So, I had a severe injury a year ago and my ortho (after everything healed) noted I had major arthritis and I’d need to get a knee replacement, for sure.
I was freaking out because the knee pain (the cracking and the pain) wouldn’t go away and I wasn’t walking right. My ortho said I’d have to get steroid shots until I get surgery and I thought that was crazy.
When my primary care and I discussed ozempic we both found preliminary studies associating the drug with joint pain reduction. After one month of taking it, the change was significant. Granted I’m not 100% pain free all the time and I can’t work out like I used to, but I’m living a better life. I felt better at the lowest dosage with very little risk of side effects. Ozempic’s side effects get worse as the dosage increases, based on the studies.
I wonder if your doctor can get you a compound glp1 since they’re way cheaper than ozempic if your insurance doesn’t cover it. The only way I get ozempic so cheap is because of the diabetes.
Thank you for this! That’s a good question. I’m overdue for a physical (and some other tests), and this is something I need to ask my doctor about when I get in.
I certainly don’t need to be running marathons or anything, but I’d love to chase my dog around the yard w/o having to pay for it later.
I missed you and went looking. What happened to Felicia, the storyteller I met at Medium?
I moved my energy and community to Substack more than 3 years ago, and Medium faded with their announcements of changes and dramatic drop in dollars. I'm thrilled to see this news of your health and freedom from diabetes. That's huge!
Happy birthday from one introvert to another. And well, every time I lose a pet, I lose my shit for a while. It's so hard, but we, your readers, are here to walk that road with you when it comes.
Enough of that! I have a special file marked Felicia on my computer. Your writing goes in there, so I can always go back and read it. I am envious of your "way with words." I read something and wonder, how did she do that? How did she find the words?
Here's to a wonderful 2025 for you and Felix. Airbus of love heading your way/
All of this is such great news, especially the Little Cat Homie, Felix, not having cancer! Yes to that! Congratulations on the weight loss and no more diabetes. And may the rest of this treacherous year be kind and endearing to you!
Happy Birthday, Felicia. and joyous holiday wishes for you and Felix.
All great updates, indeed! Happiest of holidays to you, too, Felicia. Love being part of your Substack world.
Happy holidays to you, and lots of luck in the New Year. I've been loving your newsletter for years. Love from Croatia!

I hear you. It’s worth asking your doctor about as compound glp1s are cheaper and you can try it for a month and if it doesn’t work you can stop it.
