This is really good. I relate because I spent 40+ years in marketing before being retired. I was always conflicted about it. I’ve seen the business get even worse in this new world. After becoming sober 2 years ago, I became certified as a “sobriety coach” and entered the world of marketing my own services to no success on FB and Instagram and finally paying for a course on how to market on LinkedIn. What a shit show, everyone influencing or being influenced in a chase to “10x your business”. I decided then I was done. I’m still trying to figure what’s next in my post-corporate life.

I haven’t seen your writing in a while and then this post appeared. I respect your talent and and wish you success and happiness on your terms (if possible in this world). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and work. ☮️

It’s brutal out there and half the people who sell courses are idiots. You’re good to get out. And congrats on being a sobriety coach—that’s real, true work that helps people.

Felicia, keep going and kicking butt. Like you, a six-figure job didn't cut it and after eight years, I left. Now after three months, I'm still burned out and don't know how I'll make rent, but my creative fist is loosening. I'm looking over my old work, seeing what I can do with it and what I want my future to be. Life happens while you transition to something new, but your creative entity is just waiting in the wings to be needed again.

Kyle, I get a lot of comments but this is perhaps one of the most condescending. I’m removing you from my list because while I can engage in discussion I’m not going to have someone patronize me and then dump the law of attraction in my lap.

I’ve learned that the internet emboldens people to say nonsense they wouldn’t dare say in real life. And I don’t tolerate it. On a separate note, I miss your face, my friend. 💙💙💙
